Cereal Killers
It was an honor to do this illustration for the upcoming Cereal Killers art book. Although I don't know any of the other contributors personally, I know most of them by their work and I admirethem all and revere many of them. What amazing talent in this book! I'm simply not worthy. Thanks to O'Neal AKA Doktor Von Kreep!

Disney's The Art of Animation
I was fortunate enough to find this in a junk shop. I believe it to be the first edition of Disney's well known book. The copy I have is from 1958. My favorite thing about this edition of the book is the cover, so simplistic and stylized, suprising for Disney, and the fact that it is so old and discolored makes it look even better. Check out the fantastic BG from 'Paul Bunyan' (artist not credited). We have sleeping beauty character sketches by Tom Oreb and a comparison of Eyvind Earle's concept paintings and the final 'Sleeping Beauty' BG's. I like the concept BG much better! I bet this book would fetch me a penny on ebay, I just can't part with it.

Here's an old book I found. I love the cover. It also has some nice monotone illustrations inside. I will be posting art images on this blog a few times a week. I think my postings will interest some in the animation/illustration world. I'm a lonely offsite freelancer and I don't know very many people in the business. I would love to network and trade links, so please feel free to email me if you like my posts. I would love to hear from you. Hugs and Kisses.

Katsuyuki Nishijima - born 1945
Katsuyuki Nishijima is my favorite modern Japanese woodblock artist. Apparently his work is very popular in Japan and you can see why. His art always depicts traditional Japanese architecture and country scenery, always devoid of people and the modern world. His heavy line style, rich color and quiet subjects always take my breath away.
